01 overview

JukeBox is a web app that redefines how music enthusiasts discover concerts and artists. Designed to bridge the gap between personal music preferences and live event discovery, JukeBox empowers users to explore concerts tailored to their tastes while uncovering new artists and expanding their musical horizons. By analyzing user ratings of songs, JukeBox creates a personalized genre profile, offering recommendations for upcoming concerts and artists directly within the app. With a user-friendly interface and curated suggestions, JukeBox ensures that no one misses out on the joy of live music.

02 user research

To ensure JukeBox addresses the needs of its target audience, I conducted a needs analysis to gather insights directly from potential users. This analysis involved a broad survey targeting music enthusiasts across various age groups and interests. The results highlighted a strong demand for a tool that not only recommends concerts based on personal music tastes but also introduces users to new artists. The findings provided valuable direction for the app’s development, ensuring that JukeBox aligns with user preferences and expectations while filling gaps in existing concert discovery tools.

03 userflow

Architecture and interaction design were essential in crafting a seamless and engaging user experience for JukeBox. The sitemap outlines the app‘s structure and taxonomy, clearly defining the primary and secondary pages, such as the home, JukeBox, and concert recommendation sections. The user flow illustrates how users navigate through the app, ensuring all interactions are intuitive and efficient. A dedicated task flow was developed for the song-rating feature, simplifying its complexity and integrating it seamlessly into the broader user journey, ensuring a cohesive and enjoyable experience for discovering concerts and artists.

These deliverables provided the foundation for creating low-fidelity wireframes for JukeBox. These wireframes were instrumental in refining the app’s design through iterative usability testing, ensuring an intuitive and user-centered experience.

To ensure JukeBox delivers a truly intuitive and enjoyable experience, I conducted usability testing sessions with individuals from different age groups. These sessions aimed to evaluate the app’s navigation, content layout, and overall functionality.

Key findings:

Starting page feedback
Participants expressed a strong preference for starting the experience with a personalized discovery section. Many users wanted the app to immediately highlight concerts and artists that aligned with their preferences rather than generic featured content.

Menu icon preferences
Testing revealed that certain menu icons were unclear or too abstract, particularly for older participants. Icons representing «Genre,» «Artists,» and «Concerts» needed to be more intuitive.

04 screen design

JukeBox‘s interface inspires users to discover new artists and explore the platform. The homepage showcases featured concerts, artists, or playlists, updated daily to keep the experience fresh. Following this, a dynamic section highlights six selected concerts or artists, ensuring every artist and event has the chance to be discovered, regardless of popularity. Users are encouraged to dive deeper through the app’s three main categories: genre, artists, and concerts.
